Understanding Breast Cancer - understanding the disease and the psychological effects that the patient endures. Also understanding the different treatment options and how it effects the body.
Business/Marketing - the student will have a comprehensive understanding of the business and marketing aspect. Includes business set-up, advertising, marketing, associations, foundations, and working with physicians.
Understanding Medical billing/insurance - understanding the patient's options for insurance coverage of the procedure as well as understanding malpractice insurance for your business.
Anatomy of the breast - this class encompasses a detailed look at the anatomy of the breast as well as texture and coloring of the areola.
Patient/Client Consultation - encompasses the importance of a proper consultation as well as discussing compassion and a thorough understanding of the emotional state of the patient. This class also discusses contraindications and after care instructions.
Application - hands-on practicum, color theory, skin types, technique, demonstration and practice with live models. Also covers sanitary and blood borne pathogen.

The textbook used for the course is the self published training manual by Isabel Calleros entitled “Areola Restoration Specialist Course Curriculum ”, exclusively for the INTERNATIONAL AREOLA RESTORATION ACADEMY™ and is provided in the student’s kit.
IARA training curriculum is a comprehensive accumulation of valuable information for the Areola Restoration Specialist. Ms.Calleros has compiled over 30 plus years of experience and clinical data into one textbook. General anatomy and Patient/Client photos give step by step details of areola application. All photo’s used in this training manual are copy write by IARA and are not to be reproduced without the written consent of the owner.
Practical Application is a core segment of the IARA curriculum. Each student is required to apply a complete 6 applications of breast areola pigment implantation to live models
An evaluation will be given for each color selection, application technique, consultation, case history documentation and photographs. A minimum grade of 85% is required to pass the practical application.
